FROM THE EC OFFICE TO THE TV STUDIO

Former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Charlotte Osei has taken up a new challenge as business show host on GhOne TV.

Addressing viewers immediately after the launch of the programme dubbed Business Compass, Mrs Osei said the programme seeks to create a platform to groom budding entrepreneurs into growing their business.

“ We have been engaging a lot of young entrepreneurs on their career and business issues and as we engaged them we realised more and more young entrepreneurs were passionate about their business and were very ambitious but there was a knowledge gap,” She said.

According to her, a lot of entrepreneurs assume capital is their main problem, but it is often not the situation.

“So I have been engaging with them on one on one quietly but eventually somebody at GHOne has bullied me into bringing this on TV so am here on duress but it is for a good purpose,“ she jokingly added.

“If you have a passion and want to turn into a profit, you have a side hustle, you want to improve your business this is where you come to and like a GPS we will guide you,” she stated.

The Former EC Boss Madam who has a background in corporate law will be joined by a group of friends with various expertise as well as a business coaches to help young entrepreneurs on the programme which will be aired every week.

MY BLESSED ‘USELESS-DOG’By Oheneyere Gifty Anti

When I moved out of home In December 2005, I got myself a Dog. A beautiful brown Dog.

Now don’t get excited. It was a local breed, but very lovely.

I named it Tiger!!!. Don’t worry, I will explain my laughter!!

You know how they say the name you give a person or thing, kind of has an effect/impact on them?

Well, I believe so too. But it apparently, didn’t apply to my dog Tiger.

Tiger was even afraid of its own shadow. It would run away from people!! In fact an insect could stare at Tiger and it would run.

Everyone thought Tiger was useless. In fact, I kept it because I loved the idea of having a dog. Don’t laugh!! One day, I will tell you about my Love affair with dogs.

So yes, Tiger, my ‘useless’ dog was around for quiet sometime.

In 2011, the house I lived in at community 20, got flooded. I experienced a few floods in that house, but the 2011 one, was a major one. The house was almost submerged.

It happened at dawn and so we had to leave the house, walking through the flood waters.

Somehow, Tiger was being a bit of a nuisance. Actually, that dog really got on my nerves that dawn. Oh Lord!!!

It was walking and running around me and in front of me, virtually forcing me to constantly change my route, as I walked out.

In the morning, when the water receded and I was walking back home, I was shocked to the point of tears.

There were sharp and pointed objects, nails, stones and reptiles, (some dead and others still crawling) on the road and in the house.

Yes, the same house I walked out of and the same road I walked on, when I was escaping from the flood and couldn’t see anything on the ground!!

It then dawned on me, that Tiger, my ‘useless’ dog, had actually ‘saved’ my life. It guided me safely out of dangers I couldn’t see at that time.

Suddenly, I realized, that Tiger, was not USELESS.

Yes, Tiger could not bark, it could not scare people away, like normal dogs are expected to do. But it was not useless, as everyone thought.

Who in your life do you think is useless? Because he or she or it, can not do what you expect them to do?

Who have you given up on? Who have you, your friends, your family, considered useless?!!!

I know Tiger is a dog, but it’s story is very, very symbolic!!!

For years it was ‘useless’. But when the right time came, it became the most ‘USEFUL’, asset, tool… I had and needed!!!

I hope this story speaks to you, in a way, that only you and God can understand!!!

God can use anyone and anything to be a blessing to you, at your point of need, in your desperate times.

Don’t give up on Humanity!!!

I remain a woman with super Crazy Faith in God.

Have a beautiful Day and week.

Much love.
OGA

SARKODIE BLAST SAMMY GYAMFI

The National Communication Officer of the opposition NDC, Sammy Gyamfi, has been annihilated by Twitter users for using the unfortunate death of Black American George Floyd, who died after a brutish treatment on him by a white Police Officer in America last week for partisan politics.

The NDC Chief Communicator, in a rather bizarre and disgusting mode of communication, posted a cartoon of President Akufo-Addo and Electoral Commissioner Jean Mensah suffocating a Ghanaian with the caption “I can’t breathe”, depicting and recalling the sad circumstance George Floyd lost his life to suggest that the President and the Electoral Commissioner are suffocating Ghanaians to death with the impending new voters’ register.

In a massive outpour of angst and revulsion, Twitter users on Sammy Gyamfi’s timeline hit at him for being irrational, irresponsible and insensitive for using the sad death of somebody the world is mourning for his party’s parochial political interest.

Several users also accused the NDC National Communications Officer of being disrespectful to the memory of the late Floyd for using his fatal ordeal to advance his party’s political agenda in the manner he did.

Users who couldn’t stand what they described as the repulsive behaviour of Sammy Gyamfi threatened to report his account to Twitter for his unacceptable behaviour.

COVID-19: WHO releases new guidelines for outdoor events and mass gatherings

The World Health Organization on Saturday released new guidance for mass gatherings amid the coronavirus pandemic, recommending a number of possible changes to large events — once they’re allowed to take place.

Holding gatherings outdoors, limiting attendance to healthy people and staggering arrivals could all help limit the spread of the virus, according to the guidance.

“In the context of Covid-19, mass gatherings are events that could amplify the transmission of the virus and potentially disrupt the host country’s response capacity,” the guidance said.

But it said large events offered benefits, too, such as providing employment and boosting psychological well-being.

“Since mass gatherings have substantial political, cultural, social, and economic implications, authorities should assess the importance and necessity of an event and consider the option that it may take place, provided all associated public health risks are adequately addressed and mitigated,” the guidance said.

The WHO called on public health authorities and event organizers to perform a risk assessment before any gathering and listed a number of steps organizers could take if large events do occur, such as:

Some recommendations focused on participants, reminding people to observe physical distancing, cough etiquette, and hand hygiene practices.

People at risk of developing severe illness – including those over the age of 65 or with pre-existing medical conditions – could be advised to stay away, or special arrangements could be made for them.

The WHO recommendations included a number of other measures as well, such as limiting the duration of events and providing on-site isolation facilities for people who become sick.

Rawlings wades into ‘murder’ of George Floyd

Former President Jerry John Rawlings has expressed disappointment in America and its citizens for what he describes as atrocities against black citizens in the United States.

He has described as shameful a recent incident where a white police officer was filmed kneeling on the neck of a black, George Floyd, despite the latter pleading he could not breathe.

George, 46, died shortly after, provoking protests by blacks in Minneapolis.

In a tweet Friday, May 29, the former Ghana president expressed discontentment with the way America looks on while such atrocities are carried out over the years.

He intimated such acts do not put America in a good light.

“America’s moral and political image has seriously declined since the collapse of the bipolar world. Parts of the world have suffered tremendously as a result of America’s love of war and and needless confrontations

“If some of these atrocities, especially from some white police officers against black citizens, cannot shock the American populace to see evidence of their own decline, what can? How can a police officer be the source of such cruel, violent death,” he tweeted.

While questioning why there has often not been justices for blacks victimized under such “cruelties”, the retired army officer further called on every American citizen to watch the viral video.
